Blacksburg Developer and Builder Survey

The New River Valley Regional Housing Study and recent citizen input from the Town’s Housing Affordability public engagement process have identified the need for more affordable and diverse housing types. More specifically, there is a shortage of:

• For-sale single-family homes and townhomes in the $250-450,000 range to provide starter home options for first-time homeowners.
• Non-student rentals under $1,500 a month for a two-bedroom and under $1,000 a month for a one-bedroom to support our workforce and young professional housing needs.
• For-rent or for-sale homes that offer single-level living and minimal to no yard maintenance.

The Town is actively looking to support development projects that better meet these community needs. Please complete the survey below and help us understand which changes would be most helpful to better enable the development community to produce these housing types.
