The Town of Blacksburg is conducting a connectivity study to outline how and where to expand bike, pedestrian, and other non-vehicular transportation infrastructure for the Tom’s Creek Basin. This could include new trail connections, sidewalk sections, bike lanes, or roadway improvements.
The Tom’s Creek Basin is home to an array of different housing types as well as popular recreational and commercial destinations. Many people get to (or want to get to) these places by bike, on foot, or via some other non-vehicular transportation mode, but a lack of bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure can make that a challenge. Creating and maintaining a connected system of bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure is critical to improving safety and accessibility for users.
The Town of Blacksburg conducted asurvey to learn more about preferred activities and modes of transportation and priority areas for increasing non-vehicular connectivity/access within the Toms Creek Basin. The online engagement for this project closed on March 20th, 2023. The Town staff is currently reviewing the feedback received. Stay tuned for more information on what we learned and access to the final project report.
